Hi and thank you for viewing my site. As you can see, my name is Allan and my hobby is Scrollsaw Woodworking. I have been doing this hobby for about 15 years now and I have decided to share my passion with everyone. I was the youngest of 6 children. 4 boys & 2 girls and in the 1950's toys were classed as a luxury item. Don't get me wrong when I say that but at Christmas you tended to get one main toy and the rest were just stocking fillers. My father was a great handyman and I used to love to watch him work. There were no places as the modern DIY store and things like Nails, Screws, Wall Plugs were all stored in the outside shed along with the few basic tools.

My father died when I was 10 years old, as the result of a tragic accident at work. My mother was left to bring the 3 youngest children, 2 boys & a girl, up by herself. The eldest, my brother Peter, who was 14, was at a Comprehensive school and his studies were a must. Therefore, any little jobs that needed doing, I taught myself to do, having watched my father over the years.

I met my wife, Barbara, in 1973 and we married on the 4th of May 1974. I have great delight in telling people that this was a Star Wars wedding (May the Fourth be with you!!) although a lot of people struggle with that. We have 2 wonderful sons and 5 absolutely fantastic grandchildren but I think I am biased slightly there.

I was born and bred in a small town called Benfleet in the county of Essex and where Barbara and I lived until 2001. I was made redundant in 2000 and I was offered a job in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and I jumped at the opportunity. I used to travel home to Essex every weekend and back again ready for work on Mondays, a very tiring round trip of about 300 miles. Eventually we decided to up sticks and move to a place called Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire. It is a beautiful old town with many medieval buildings and a wonderful Abbey
Samples of my work can be seen on all the pages of this site.
